For nearly two decades, RSM students have consistently achieved remarkable scores on standardized tests and in national and international math competitions, although attaining top test scores is just one of the benefits of our program. RSM helps students of all levels become more confident in math and develop a deeper understanding of the subject.

 

 

Russian School of Mathematics is hiring a DevOps Engineer. We are currently actively working on building out an engineering team to transition our legacy software stack to a modern cloud based platform. Our current challenges are:  

  • reposition the entire software stack to a modern cloud architecture (java microservices on kubernetes framework running in AWS communicating via GraphQL, controlled by Ansible Tower) 
  • introduce analytics to understand how our students master the math skills 
  • introduce math engines to create, rate and aid solving math problems. 
  • reposition the content storage to allow a versioning, publishing.  

For this transition a key position is the DevOps engineer who will define these new processes.   

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
  • Test implemented designs
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
  • Handle code deployments in all environments (DEV, QA, BETA, PROD)
  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery
  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards
  • Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects
  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes
  • Improve infrastructure development and application development
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company
  • Create an update schedule and apply security patches

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school degree or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, software engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience in development and operations, or related IT, computer, or operations field
  • Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
  • Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL (MS SQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby
  • Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
